How do I care for my original canvas?
Each original canvas is carefully sprayed with acrylic sealer prior to shipment to protect the artwork from wear, tear, weathering or fading due to sunlight. To maintain the quality of your canvas, hang it immediately or store it in a safe place with low humidity. To avoid puncturing, ensuring that it is always laying flat without anything heavy on top of it.
 

How do I hang my original canvas?
You have many different options when it comes to hanging your original canvas. I recommend inserting a nail into your wall in your desired location. Simply rest the top of the canvas - the wood piece on the back - above the nail. Depending on the size of your canvas, you may need 2 nails so that it hangs evenly and straight. If you are unable to nail into your walls, you can try double sided Command strips. You can find these at Target. Just ensure that they will hold the weight of the canvas 1-5lb).
 

How do I hang my print?
I recommend framing your artwork print with protective glass, then hanging according based on the frame’s instructions.

Which of your products do you recommend as gifts?
All of my artwork can be gifted and shipped directly to your recipient, including original canvases, custom canvases, prints, stickers, greeting cards and planters. You can shop them hereYou can sort gifts

Do you make custom gifts (i.e. art for birthdays, weddings, showers or holidays?)

Yes, do! You can create a completely customized canvas painting or drawing for a friend or family member. Check out my Custom Orders page to learn more, or read through my Custom Order FAQs below.


Do you provide gift receipts or offer exchanges?
I unfortunately do not offer gift receipts, but I do offer exchanges. If your gift recipient is unsatisfied with their gift, they are able to ship it back and receive a gift card in return for the amount of the returned gift. From there, they can select and purchase the artwork they’d like instead.

Can I send a custom note to my gift recipient?
Of course! Each order - whether it be a custom order or the purchase of a greeting card, print, canvas, planter or sticker - can be customized to include a complimentary custom note.

What is a custom order?
A custom order from The Blank Canvas Co. allows you to build your own piece of artwork from the ground up. If that sounds scary - don’t worry. That’s what I’m here for. Please check out my Custom Orders page for more details.

What if I need ideas for my custom order?

Where can I place a custom order?
You can place a custom order using the Custom Order Inquiry Form. If you have questions prior to placing a custom order, you can email me directly at Erica@theblankcanvascompany.com.


How do custom orders work?
Once you fill out the Custom Order Inquiry Form, my process consists of a few easy steps:

  • Complimentary consultation
  • Invoice & initial payment
  • Sketching
  • Painting
  • Final approval & final payment
  • Delivery & shipping

How much does a custom order cost?
I charge $50/hour for all custom orders, with the exception of wedding orders (see below for more information). Once we nail down the details of your piece, I will give you a price estimate based on the scope of work. I will then require a 50% deposit prior to beginning your piece.

Custom orders range vastly in price depending on the time, detail, effort and materials. The $50/hour covers the cost of my time and materials used (canvases, brushes, paints and varnishes).

Please find the rough price ranges below, based on my $50/hour rate. Note that pricing is subjective to each order. An exact price quote will be given prior to beginning work on your custom orders.

  • Pet Portraits: $100 - $500
    • 8x10: $150-$200
    • 9x12: $175-$225
    • 10x10: $175-$225
    • 11x14: $225-$250
    • 12x15: $250-$275
    • 16x20: $325-$350
    • 18x24: $425-$500
  • Quotes & Calligraphy
    • 8x10 canvas: $80 - $100
    • 9x12 canvas: $90 - $150
    • 10x10 canvas: $125 - $175
    • 11x14 canvas: $150 - $225
    • 12x15 canvas: $200 - $250
    • 16x20 canvas: $300 - $400


How much does a custom wedding order cost?
I charge $70/hour for all custom wedding orders. Please see my Custom Orders page for more information on my wedding services. 


Is there a contract to sign for custom orders?
Yes! After you place your order and we determine the details of your custom art, I will send you a Custom Order Form that recaps your order and a 1:1 client agreement that will require your signature. Your signature confirms that you accept my terms and conditions and that the details of your piece that are listed in the invoice are correct. I consider this my contract for work.​
  

When do I pay?
Due to the handmade nature of my work and all the time, care and love that goes into your order, I request a 50% deposit upfront. This payment should be made right after your complimentary consultation is completed and your invoice & 1:1 client agreement have been signed. The remaining 50% will be payed upon completion of your order.
  

Can I pay in a payment plan?
Yes, you can! Once I share the price quote with you, we can determine a payment plan that works best for you. The terms of this plan, along with the dates agreed upon for payments, will be laid out in your 1:1 client agreement. You will be legally contracted to send each payment on the agreed upon date.
 

How far ahead should I order?
I recommend placing your order at least 5-6 weeks prior to the date you’d like it to arrive, if possible. My workload is ever-changing and I want to be able to fulfill your order without having to rush ship. If you need a last minute gift (hey, we all do it sometimes), please email me directly at Erica@theblankcanvascompany.com and I will do my best to accommodate your order.


Do you accept refunds on custom orders?
Due to the hand-made nature of my custom canvases, full refunds are not available once I begin creating your product. If we have begun the design process, refunds will be determined based on the amount of work that has been put in. If a refund is requested based on the failure to acknowledge anything in the terms and conditions, no more than a 50% refund of the full quote will be provided.

I will NOT provide refunds if you realize, upon the completion of your order, that you are not satisfied with your order. The custom order process accounts for several rounds of sketches and revisions to ensure that your order is carefully crafted to your liking. By ordering from me, you are agreeing that you like my style of work.

When will I get my order?
All original canvas, print, stationary + greeting card, planter and sticker + magnet orders will be fulfilled within 3-5 business days. All domestic orders should arrive within 3-5 business days after fulfilment & shipment. I can only guarantee the date of shipment, not the date of receipt. Please note: This does not apply to custom orders. Custom canvases can take up to 5-6 weeks to create and ship. Visit my Custom Orders page, or check out my Custom Order FAQs (above) for more details. 

Please also note USPS orders have been delayed for the majority of 2020. I am not liable for any delayed orders due to USPS issues.

How much does domestic shipping cost?
Shipping costs vary by order based on standard USPS shipping rates. Shipping costs depend on the size of your artwork, the weight of your artwork and where your artwork is shipping to. I offer free shipping on orders over $75.


How much does international shipping cost?
Shipping costs vary by order based on standard USPS shipping rates. Shipping costs depend on the size of your artwork, the weight of your artwork and where your artwork is shipping to. Any international shipping for orders will be charged to buyers. The Blank Canvas Co. is not responsible for any delays caused by international shipping or customs, or for customs fees.


How can I track my order? 
After you make your purchase (thank you for shopping small, female-owned!), you will promptly be emailed a tracking number for your order.


Do you provide a local drop off option for Massachusetts residents?
Yes! In order to minimize shipping costs, I do offer local drop offs in the Greater Boston Area (within 20 miles of my location) for $5 (vs. $8-$15 shipping). Please select "Local Drop Off" at checkout. I can also sometimes accommodate pick ups in other areas of Massachusetts, Connecticut or Rhode Island. If you are in one of these two states and would like to do a pick up, please email me directly at Erica@theblankcanvascompany.com.
 

Do you accept full refunds or exchanges on original canvases?
Due to the handmade nature of my original canvases, i do not accept full refunds or exchanges on original canvases. Please see my "Custom Orders" section above for more details.
 

Do you accept refunds or exchanges on prints and greeting cards?
Refunds and exchanges on prints and greeting cards will be accepted within 30 days of the purchase of your product. The artwork must be returned in the same condition it was received in. I will issue out one return label. The payment of the label will be covered by The Blank Canvas Co.
 

Do you accept returns or exchanges on painted terracotta planters?
Due to the handmade nature of my original painted terracotta planters, they are final sale and cannot be returned or refunded. Terracotta planters are extremely fragile and may be harmed if packaged up improperly by a buyer.
